This review is on Faber Castell's Mix & Match Paper Crafter Crayons
There are 3 different sets of 8 crayons- Red/Yellow, Blue/Green and Neutral. I purchased the Neutral set. These crayons are the size of a colored pencil & are twistable. They can also be sharpened in a standard pencil sharpener. They are wax crayons and are not water-soluble. They are called "Mix & Match" because they are advertised to be used with watermedia & other different mediums.
The colors were bright enough and I liked the selection of neutral colors. I think they look good for drawing animals & nature scenes.
What I did notice was that they do not blend well at all. So I wasn't terribly impressed with them at first
However I did enjoy mixing them with different mediums and the colors really do complement each other. I really like that they are twistable & they are tough and not easy to break. To me they act like a mix of colored pencil & wax crayon. They are not as waxy as most crayons.
Here I did a little bird sketch with the Paper Crafter crayons as well as Cretacolor's Aquastics. The two mediums worked really nice together and were not super intense and bright which was what I was going for. One thing I like in particular is that the peach color was bright. Every other crayon I've tried the peach is usually faded and very hard to see.
Pros: highly pigmented, twistable, durable, large, mixes well with other mediums
Cons: pricey, does not blend well, limited color selections
These can be purchased at www.fabercastell.com and www.amazon.com
