Color Splash Pencils

This review is on International Arrival's Color Splash Watercolor Pencils
They come in a 24 pack in a tin case

The color selection is really nice with a really good variety of greens & blues in particular

The first thing I noticed about this is the colors are so bright and they take hardly any water at all to activate them. The pencil marks dissolve almost completely once you add water. The only 2 that didn't seem to dissolve as well were the grey-blue & the grey. But other than that I was very pleased with how pigmented they are.

Seeing as how I'm focusing my blog on watercolor crayons I did a sketch of a toucan with primarily Color Splash Watercolor Pencils but also added a smidge of Neocolor II. For the background vines I took the color directly off of the pencil with a brush in which the color turned even more bright. For most of the sketch I added the pencils dry and then added water to the paper. I did two layers. I think they look beautiful by themselves & when combined with crayons and I look forward to trying them out more in future projects.

Pros: pigmented, good color selection, don't break easily, dissolves easily, good value
Cons: the colors aren't named (I usually like to make swatches and write the names down so I can find the exact pencil easily when I need them so I found this to be a con), only come in 1 size

They can be purchased on www.amazon.com  and www.intlarrivals.com
