They sent me two of the watercolor crayons & one gel stick . The gel stick is said to be equivalent to the significantly more expensive "Gelatos" by Faber Castell.
I did a quick test and the crayons were very hard and waxy and difficult to draw with but were surprisingly bright and colorful when activated by water. The gel stick has a wonderful oil pastel-like quality when used dry but was not as bright when used with water & the color did not dissolve as easily.
Faber Castell watercolor crayons- as you can see they broke very easily. However I am heavy-handed so that may have been a factor :)
Metallic gel stick- beautiful oily consistency. I enjoyed using this by itself and combined with the crayons but did not particularly like it when used with water
Here are the crayons top to bottom (Rose Pink, Yellow Green, & Metallic Silver gel stick). The water was applied with a brush and the colors came out quite bright and smooth. Little of the crayon marks were left after water was applied. The gel stick came out less vivid but still had a nice sheen that would be interesting to use in art journals and similar projects.
The Faber Castell watercolor crayons come in a pack of 15 with a paintbrush. They run from $10-15 which I think is a little costly for the quality. I think that I would purchase the item if it was a slightly lower cost
The Metallic Gel sticks come in a box of 6 and run from $6-7. They seem like a good quality product and I will probably buy the pack to try all the colors. if you have used and enjoy "Gelatos" you would probably enjoy these as they cost significantly less
The Gel Sticks also come in assorted colors of 12. They run from $9-13.
