Crayon painting on Canvas

Finished a painting today of a Russian Tumbler pigeon. This was my first attempt to use canvas- particularly with watermedia. I did an underpainting with Dr Ph Martin's Watercolors and the rest was done in Neocolor II crayons. The crayons worked really well on the canvas and didn't leave any crayon marks after the wash.
I was happy with the final result- especially after attempting something new which is always a little nerve-racking for me.

  1. This is gorgeous! I love Neocolor II - their texture, their pigment rich opacity and soft laydown are sumptuous. Top quality artist grade material. Nothing like children's crayons. Love the unusual pigeon and your soft transitions.
